Every part in the crate — laid out so you can budget, plan storage, and brief facilities.
One Annual Fee ships the drivetrain, chassis, battery, electronics, firmware and PPE for a complete cohort. The table below is the inventory list — every line below ties back to a row on our For Schools pricing table, so the kit you read about here is the same kit we ship.

Kit inventory — at a glance
Twelve lines. That's what's in the crate.
Use this as the master spec when you brief your facilities team or business manager. The "Coverage" column maps 1:1 to the kit / school-supplied / optional-upgrade buckets on our For Schools pricing page.
| Category | Component | What's in the crate | What it means for your school |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chassis | Tubular Spaceframe Chassis | Mild-steel tubes + laser-cut flat panels | Bolted assembly under teacher supervision. MIG welding optional for advanced cohorts. |
| Chassis | Wheels, tyres & axle hardware | 4× wheels with tyres + spacers + kingpins | All four corners pre-matched. No wheel shopping at the start of the year. |
| Chassis | Fasteners, brackets & body panels | Numbered fastener kit + steel body panels + mounting brackets | Pre-counted so you can sign off the inventory sheet against the crate on arrival. |
| Electronics | Motor Controller / ESC (500A sine-wave, CAN) | 500A ESC, pre-flashed with the cohort firmware | Field-oriented control with throttle calibration, regen, and CAN telemetry — the fault-mode playground for diagnosis tasks. |
| Electronics | Battery management system (BMS) | Cell-level BMS, contactor, pre-charge circuit | Live cell monitoring feeds the telemetry stack students read on race day. |
| Electronics | Wiring harness + sensors | Numbered loom, current / voltage / temperature / wheel-speed sensors | Plug-in connectors — no bespoke crimping required for the everyday classroom build. |
| Electronics | Telemetry + Firmware (ChargeOS + CAN dongle) | ChargeOS firmware stack + CAN dongle + tablet telemetry app | Open firmware stack students flash and modify. Live CAN-bus telemetry streams to the tablet. |
| Batteries | High-Voltage Pack (LiFePO4 48V 30Ah + BMS) | 48V 30Ah LiFePO4 pack, pre-charged to storage SoC | Lithium-iron-phosphate chemistry — far safer than consumer Li-ion in a school setting. Fully serviceable for assessment. |
| Batteries | Charger + mains lead | Single-phase 230V charger with 10A plug | Plugs into a normal workshop wall outlet. No special wiring in eligible states. |
| Safety gear | Safety PPE Set (Class 0 HV gloves + visor) | Class 0 HV-insulating gloves + arc-rated face shield + workshop apron + lockout-tagout tags | Per-cohort set sized for Years 10–12. Re-stocked annually on licence renewal. |
| Tools | Build-specific tooling (Charge Academy supplies) | Calibrated torque wrench + terminal-crimp tool + cell-voltage meter | Tools we ship because the build needs them calibrated to the chassis spec. |
| Tools | Metric hand tools + multimeter | School-supplied — standard workshop set | Metric socket set, spanners, multimeter — typically already on the school inventory. |
Every visible line in the table above reconciles with the equivalent row in the KIT_COVERAGE table on the For Schools page.
Chassis
Chassis
The welded tubular frame, four corner wheels, and the steel panels a teacher bolts on during the build day.
Mild-steel, pre-rolled tubes
The welded roll-cage frame the car bolts together around.
×4 corner sets + spacers
Pre-matched so you don’t have to source them locally.
Numbered fastener kit
Pre-counted, sealed bag by assembly step.
Laser-cut steel panels
Flat-pack panels that a teacher bolts on during the build day.
MIG welding is optional and only required for the advanced-cohort chassis module.
Electronics
Electronics
The motor controller, battery management, wiring harness, and the sensors that stream telemetry to the tablet.
500A sine-wave, CAN bus
Field-oriented control with throttle calibration and regen.
Cell-level monitoring
Reads every cell voltage, balance and temperature live.
Numbered loom, plug-in connectors
No bespoke crimping for the everyday classroom build.
Plug-and-play sensor bundle
Feeds the tablet telemetry app over CAN.
Batteries
Batteries
A 48V LiFePO4 traction pack sized for the school year, the charger you plug into a normal wall outlet, and the enclosure that contains it.
48V 30Ah LiFePO4
Lithium-iron-phosphate chemistry — far safer than consumer Li-ion in a school setting.
Single-phase 230V mains
Plugs into a normal workshop outlet — no special wiring.
Steel mount + vented case
Restrains the pack under impact; vented for thermal events.
Tools
Tools
The build-specific tooling Charge Academy ships with the kit, plus the basic metric hand tools most school workshops already own.
Charge Academy supplies
Pre-calibrated to the chassis fastener spec — no classroom tool-shop trip for the right wrench.
Charge Academy supplies
Matched to the wiring-harness terminals so students don’t over-crimp the lugs.
Charge Academy supplies
Reads each cell voltage individually for the BMS assessment tasks.
School-supplied
Standard workshop set — typically already on the school inventory.
The kit ships the specialist tools we calibrate to our chassis; the rest is your existing workshop set.
Safety gear
Safety gear
Per-cohort PPE for the build (high-voltage gloves, face shield, lockout tags) and the driver kit students need on race day.
Class 0 1000V HV-insulating
Sized for Years 10–12. Re-stocked annually on licence renewal.
Workshop-rated, anti-fog
Pairs with the HV gloves for any work near the live pack.
Cohort set
Standard workshop PPE plus isolation-tag kit for the assessment tasks.
Helmet + fire-retardant suit + gloves + visor
Driver’s personal kit — confirm with your coordinator if it is supplied by the kit or by the school.
What the school provides
Five line items most school budgets already cover.
We ship the specialist kit. Your school provides the room, the power, the tools you own, and a lockable cabinet for parts storage between sessions. Aligned with the School-budget items list on our For Schools page.
Bench space
A standard tech-studies room or workshop of about 40 m² — already on your inventory.
230V mains outlet
For overnight battery charging — uses a normal 10A wall outlet, no special wiring.
PC for flashing firmware
Any Windows, macOS or Linux laptop/desktop with a USB port — used to flash ChargeOS onto the ESC during re-flash tasks.
Basic metric hand tools
Socket set, spanners, multimeter — same set your STEM or workshop faculty already owns.
Secure lockable cabinet
For parts storage between sessions — standard metal workshop cabinet, supplied by the school.
PC for flashing firmware: any Windows, macOS or Linux PC with a USB port. Used during the re-flash task that maps to the ChargeOS firmware step in your kit schedule.
Most principals find these line items sit inside existing STEM or workshop budgets — rarely a new ask of the business manager. See the full Schools FAQ for indicative billing per state.
Cost note
Indicative per cohort, confirmed at proposal time
Every line above ships under a single annual fee. Three cohort sizes — Foundation, Multi-cohort and Whole-school licence — cover the breadth of school budgets. Re-stocking of consumables and annual PPE renewal is included in licence years beyond the first.

Cohort shape
Designed for Year 10–12 cohorts of 12+
One kit crate supports one cohort at a time. Multi-cohort schools rotate the HV pack between contiguous terms; whole-school licences add a library-kit refit and faculty-wide PD.
